Creating Catchlights Using One Strobe in Photography and Editing Techniques
Beena Deming

Catch light or catchlight is one of my favorite lighting setups and it's easy to control the light. There are so many lighting setups to achieve beauty or Hollywood looks. This video shows an easy way to get the same result using only one strobe Godox 400Pro. It also shows how I edited this look.

Gear
Camera : Sony A7IV
Lens : Tamron 70-180 @101mm
Flash : Godox 400Pro
Umbrella : GODOX 34"
Camera Setups
ISO : 100
Aperture : F/5.6
Shutter : 1/320s
White Balance : 5900

As you can see, I used white cardboard sheets to surround myself and put the light up high above my head and pointed it down about 45 degrees. To get a soft shadow I was using a white reflector put on a stand.
Using 2 umbrellas, one with silver and another one with clear white, that gave me more soft light on the model's face. See how I edited this look on YouTube
